Dana Shaw

director / dp / editor

Through growing up surfing and skateboarding, Dana was exposed to his mentors in filmmaking at an early age. Paying close attention to the way they approached their craft, Dana was able to hone his skills in cinematography and visual narratives. Fresh out of high school, he started his career as a cinematographer working for The Kayo Corp. A skateboard distribution that housed Expedition Skateboards, Organika Skateboards, and DGK Skateboards. After finishing Kayo’s film, “It’s Official” in 2006, Dana began to contribute to films made by Transworld Skateboarding, Black Label Skateboards, and a plethora of brand film’s being released in the early 2000’s. While working and traveling as a skateboarding cinematographer, he was inspired to dive deeper into documentary storytelling. Shaw decided to move to San Francisco to study documentary film, and cut his teeth as a filmmaker under the wing of an oddball scene. Shaw continues to carve out a niche by Directing his own films, and has defined himself as a Film Editor through working on award winning feature documentaries including; “Given” (2016), “Spoons - A Santa Barbara Story” (2019), “Convergence” (2023).
